Is my older cat hurting the kitten or are they being natural?
I very recently introduced a new 8 week old kitten to our resident 9 month old cat. I followed the guidelines for introductions very lightly... by the second day there was a supervised face to face meeting. While the resident cat Sooty is a bit annoyed he is not overly aggressive... but he does 'hunt' her. Whenever there is a meeting now the kitten is very playful and runs around ignoring Sooty who chases her into corners and paws at her. There is minimal hissing but occasionally when Sooty catches her he bites a tad too hard. They are able to eat fairly close together but he still chases her whenever she is running around. She always comes out from her corner even if Sooty is still there. Is this natural play fight or simple bullying? It has only been four days since the introduction, and I realise we have taken things a bit fast...
it is a natural instinct the older cat has made its territory and introducing the kitten and him doing this means that he is just basiccally saying whose boss this should settle down in time dont worrie i had the same problem just keep with it and dont push any of them away unless you feel for either of there safety.....
