Mouse smuggling! How can I teach my kitten not to try it, when we have a house sitter?
My female kitten catches mice and leaves them on the doorstep or in the garage. Good kitty! Then the male goes outside, finds the mouse and performs an amazing juggling act with it. Next, he tries to smuggle it into the house, and has succeeded twice.
Our house sitter is mouse-phobic and will freak out is she even sees a dead one. Any suggestions ? (aside from "always keep your cats in the house - we live in the country - they have had their rabies shots.)
Well cats bring you food (mice to you and me) to show that they care about you by trying to feed you. Also cats will sometimes play with their food. They are after all animals. However your babysitter is a reasoning human being. You are more likely to get her to cure of her phobia of mice than teaching a cat to suppress their basic instincts.
