James Wellbeloved Cat
Any Siamese owners out there, do you think that normal pet food, in my case James WellBeloved is to high ?

in calories for such a lean breed, mine get fed very little but they are putting on weight fast. They are very active, the food for those who dont know it is a very high quality food with no fillers or anything like that. Anyway my question is, what do you feed your Siamese and do you think the food designed for Siamese is just a money making thing or actually useful for the cat itself?
Thanks for all your answers so far but they are not free fed, they are fed the amount reccommended by the food brand, in fact less because I think they can be a little but generic, also they can not have wet food cos both of them have quite sensitve stomachs and the food they are eating at the moment is supposed to be good for cats with allergies.

The Royal Canin Siamese 38 is higher protein for the more active cat--like your breed. We use it for our diabetic cat because he doen't have issues with the preservatives in it. He's very allergic to some of the preservatives in dry and canned foods and this was the best we can have him on and not have him yank half his fur out.

I like the RC Siamese food, it's been good for our cats. You can go to the RC's website and read what they have there and make your own decision, but I would recommend that, or any food that has a 40-50% protein level. This would include Wellness Core, EVO and a few others. If their coats aren't dry, they have no dandruff, and no other side effects show up, then the food you're feeding is doing ok.

One other GOOD thing about the RC is that it makes the cat far less likely to barf up half digested food, another problem Siamese generally have when eating dry. Yes, there's corn gluten in it, but cats can digest the gluten, not the other corn parts. I have a bulemic cat with very touchy stomach (not a siamese) and being on this food has really cut down on the amount of times he'll heave right after eating.
