My cat, a 5-month old kitten, keeps putting his paws in the water bowl and splashing it out!! What can I do?
Hi everybody,
We have a 5-month old kitten that just went in for a neuter surgery today. He got to the vet's in the early morning and got back in the afternoon. Ever since, he has been confined to the indoors.
He actually lives in an outdoor porch that has a pet door on it so he can go in and out whenever he likes. However, the vet has told us to lock the pet door so he can only stay inside for the next few days. This is so that he doesn't become too active and accidentally screw up the stitching.
BUT, since coming back from the surgery, our kitten has taken a liking to putting his paws in the water bowl and splashing around the water all over the floor! He has done it twice, and it is becoming very frustrating because we have insulation underneath that might become damaged.
Do any of you have any suggestions to help with our kitten problem? Please help before my mom decides to kick the poor kitten out of the house!!!

Just put a towel under the bowel and let him have his fun. I love to watch my cat play with the water. Do not try to stop him. There are a lot worse problems that might need correction but splashing water is not one of them. Just relax and enjoy kitty at play. Do not follow what one of the the people above said. you should never spank a cat. Ever. They just don't get it. If you need to correct a cat use a spray bottle or water gun and give them a squirt every time they do whatever it is that you want stopped. Trust me, it works.
