I put the collar on her about 2 weeks after I got her. She did try to get it off for about the first 3 days and finally learned to ignore it about 3-4 weeks later. If it's affecting if he eats, you should definitely give him a rest. Try leaving the collar next to his food bowl so he associates the collar with something good. Then put it on him for about 30 mins, then 1 hour, and gradually build up the time you leave the collar on him. He'll eventually grow use to it.
