I found my cat had died this morning and I'm not sure what caused it, I just wondered if anyone had any ideas. My ten year old cat suddenly, out of nowhere, pee'd on the bed the night before last. He just started going constantly, even when we picked him up he didn't stop.
I put him outside while we cleaned up and thought that I would see how he is in the morning, because there were no signs of illness, he had been absolutely fine. Even when we put him out he ran off into the garden. However he didn't come back yesterday and this morning I found him back in the garden inside the cat kennel, but he had died. Where he was laying there was also fluid by his back end.
It was all so sudden and I have no idea what could have caused it, any ideas? He is vaccinated and was neutered years ago.
I'm sorry for your loss. Sometimes urinary tract infections/blockages can cause issues. If he was blocked up for a couple of days, the toxins building in his body can be deadly. It's possible that the blockage eventually opened and led to the peeing, but perhaps by then it was too late. If you really want to know, you can ask your vet for a necrospy - like an autopsy for a pet.
