How to teach a cat to use a litterbox with a flap (or cat door) in it?
I have two cats (5 and 6 years old) whom I just bought a new litter box for. This new one has a "cat flap" in it that they have to push to get out/in. What is the best way to train them to use this litterbox instead of only going in the two other older boxes that they have? Thanks!~
Before you put litter in it you could just take the lid of and put it on the floor so the cat gets use to going in and out of it - you might have to give the cat a gently nudge in the right direction. Then when the cat has got the hang of it put the lid back on and hope that the cats use it. I had one which cat flap on and my cats did not get the hang of it so I had to remove the cat flap - hope you have better luck
