Catcher Mat
We have a small $15 charcoal grill. We live in an apt, 2nd floor, wooden flooring and trees close to patio?
Could we use this little 12" charcoal grill safely if we wet the deck, have an extinguisher ready and bought a mat to go under it or something. It's so small, I would think it would be fine... but I'm wondering about the ashes flying out and hitting the trees or something. The small grill does have a little ash catcher tray below it. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!
Yes we are definitely going to check with the office and find out the laws and regualtions before doing anything. We do not want to put anyone or anything in danger. We are environment friendly too! That's why I'm asking =)

Most governmental agencies have codes which apply to apartment complexes, and usually the Fire Codes portion of the codes PROHIBIT the use of any portable grills, fire pits, chimneas, etc. within 15 feet of the building structures.
Although you could be lucky using your safety procedures, on the other hand something unexpected and unprepared for could occur, and you could end up catching the structure on fire which could lead to massive property damage and worse, injury or death to other occupants of the building.
I strongly suggest you contact the building management, AND the local Fire Marshal's office personnel to find the correct answer to your question. Good luck.
