Allergic reaction?
An area appeared on my dogs neck where all her hair fell out, it is extremely red and it sometimes heavily bleeds. we went on a camping trip last weekend and she was in a river for a while. she got very dirty so we used some shampoo to clean her off. the shampoo is Hartz UltraGuard Rid Flea & Tick shampoo with oatmeal for dogs. we noticed the spot about 3 days after we used the shampoo. does anyone know what this might be and if so, how to heal it? plz help
It could be a hot spot, though with heavy bleeding it should be checked out. Hot spots are easily treated at home with hair clippers, a good scrub and neosporin.. But if the spot bleeds you need to have that checked by a vet. An allergy to shampoo would affect the whole body, not just the one spot. It could be a number of things, make an appointment to have her seen.
