When i take a photo of my cat her eyes are always different colours..?
Why is this? her eyes are the same colour normally and she is not blind. It happens in every photo and it is not the lighting.... can anyone answer this????
No, it's not the lighting, but the reflection of the light from your cat's eyes.
This is because cat eyes have a thick cornea layer, which reflects light to enable cats to see in minimal amount of light....hence the common misconception that cats are able to see in total darkness.
With this thick layer forming a transparent reflective surface on your cat's eye, light that hits it is bounced back, and this may cause the colour differences you witness in pictures of your cat's eyes, due to the light being reflected from it, and the different angle of the camera, as this reflective cornea may be in line with objects around your cat, causing the said colour differences as well. Also, akin to the formation of the rainbow, such reflective rounded surfaces (like a rain drop) has the ability to refract light into a myriad of different colours.
