Cat collar breakaway or not..?
So I understand the concept of the breakaway collar cat gets caught up on something the won't choke too death. My cat is a indoor cat only I adopted him back in may and he has never tried once to get out even when by my mistake left the patio door open. So he is microchiped with a little tag to wear on a collar but the problem is he is able to get the collar off and he chews it and breaks the connection piece I put it on tight but not too tight I can stick my pointer finger between the collar and the neck...so since he is a indoor cat only and highly unlikely he will get out why couldn't I get a normal collar
There are severa ltypes of breakaway collars ...some stretch more than others before breaking loose. You do not want it too loose or it will get caught on something. You are the first person to mention a tag to wear on the collar. When my cat gets the rabies shot, I get a tag and the vet has recommended that I just keep it in a safe place and and be able to show it whenever necessary. This is especially true if your cat is going to be an indoor cat. Most all places are now scanning routinely just in case the cat has been chipped.
