cat disliking catnip, what should i do?
i bought this catnip in a little sack from the store and ive had it for about 3 weeks now and i introduced it to my cat..and he just ignores it..what can i do to make him like it..also if you need to know this he is two years old
Interestingly, the crazy catnip behavior is an inherited condition. Cats either have the 'catnip gene' and go nuts for the stuff, or they don't have it and could care less about catnip. I've had both types of kitties, and it's kind of sad when two of them are rolling around, chewing on the stuff and going berserk, and one kitty is just sitting there looking from them to me as if she's wondering what all the fuss is about and why she isn't having any fun.
You might try a different type of catnip since some isn't as good quality as others. If he doesn't respond, there isn't anything you can do about it--he just doesn't have the gene.
