My cats like plastic is that normal? Can cats have vendettas?
-I have 5 month old male and female cats. whenever they see plastic they play with it, sit on it, sleep on it and sometimes try to eat it. They go out of there way to play with the plastic. It doesnt matter what it is plastic bag, plastic wrapping material, plastic pole, etc. Im even considering of storing all their toys and just leave plastic all over the place since thats all they play with. Is that normal?
-And to top that, if the plastic or any object doesnt do what it wants or somehow pisses off the cats, they literally go on a rage and try to destroy it as if they had a personal vendetta on it and its marked for death.
Hi there...It's not unusual for some cats to have a tendency towards certain items such as plastic items such as bags (the crinkly sounds it makes perhaps a taste from a food item). Some tend to say it is because they are missing something in their diet. Some say it is rendered animal fat used in plastics that they are attracted to. And others think it may because it smell like food. However it's best to be mindful and supervise their inappropriate desires just in case of accidental ingestion of particular items...mainly plastic bags that get chewed off in pieces and anything easily swallowed. Ideally, pastic bags should be put away if your cat later decides it would be something worth beyond licking like ...eating--ingesting this could create some medical problems which is expensive to later treat.
Consider offering a safe kitty toys with similar textures in place of non-durable plastic items so that they learn to enjoy playing these instead.
