Can I leave my kitten alone? Please read (first time pet owner)?
I got a 10 week old kitten three days ago and for the most part, so far so good. Unfortunately it's still quite cold where I live and it's an old house so until the weather gets warmer, the kitten is sleeping in my room where it's warm and I keep his food and litter box in the kitchen. I haven't left the kitten alone yet but I'll be leaving him alone a few times a week (2-3 tops) and I'm not sure how to go about this. I can't leave him running around the house by himself because I have expensive furniture and feel he might scratch them (I do keep a scratcher in the living room though).
Would it be okay to move the litter box, scratcher and food to my room while I'm gone? He would be locked in there with those two things, plus his bed and some toys. Would this confuse him too much? Any other suggestions?
That sounds fine for now, but try to get a companion kitten so he's not lonely. I don't think he would scratch your furniture, though, so I'd say it's safe to let him roam. You may come home to find him curled up someplace cute 
Keep any dangerous areas off limits and spend lots of time with him when you get home
