Is it ok to give my miniature schnauzer a bath twice a month?
She gets groomed every month, but I feel that after two weeks she doesn't smell as nice anymore and can use a quick bath.
Define "doesn't smell as nice." Are we talking about her not smelling like the shampoo the groomers use or are we talking about "just romped in raw sewage"?
If it is just that she no longer smells like the shampoo, you should get over it (or, if you are unwilling to do that, there are freshening sprays you can use on dogs for this purpose... sort of like the canine form of fabreeze). Dogs have very sensitive senses of smell (though schnauzer's aren't quite as good as, say, hounds); what might appear to be a pleasant smell to you can easily be overpowering to them (especially when it is on them). You dog wont be hurt from smelling hideously (thought to you it might smell nice), but it isn't good.
Additionally, it is good to know your own dog's normal smell. Sudden changes in smell can be an indication of health problems (when those changes aren't caused by an external source, like raw sewage).
